Clark County native and businessman Chris Wallace and former White Pine County School Board member Val Olsen will face off in November for a seat on the State Board of Education.
The District 7 incumbent, retired principal Merv Iverson, opted not to seek another term. He has served since 2000, when he was appointed to fill a vacancy. Iverson threw his support to Wallace.
With 82 percent of precincts reporting, Wallace had 43 percent of the vote while Olsen had 31. James Brooks, a recent Valley High School graduate who is set to begin his freshman year at UNLV, finished third with 27 percent.
