Letter to the editor:
Anti-drilling stance harms Americans
Fri, Aug 8, 2008 (2:02 a.m.)
How can politicians from either party, who claim to want to help poor or average Americans, continue to oppose drilling for oil and natural gas?
It will take about 20 years to convert our automobile fleet to hybrid, natural gas, electric (plug-in and solar) or hydrogen energies. What does the average or poor American drive in the meantime? These same politicians, at times, oppose wind, solar and the electric grid required to distribute electricity, because of aesthetics!
We need debate and solutions, not obstructionism. Why didn’t Congress vote on an energy plan before it adjourned?

Because the Republicans, refused and stopped the vote.
Oh that's rich. The republicans had a chance to vote on real energy reform. Reid even gave them the chance to amend the bills, but they refused.
Now they're holding parties on the floor of the House instead of working to compromise and work toward a common goal. Even Boehner won't show his face, he's too busy playing golf.
The voters will remember that Congress had three bills that could have immediately began to work toward reducing the price of oil and energy.
The voters will remember that the republicans filibusters those bills and refused to allow the Congress to make any progress.
The voters will remember that Reid offered to compromise, but the stubborn republicans would rather adjourn than help us.
The voters will remember that Jon Porter and Dean Heller DID NOTHING when offered the chance to help.
The voters will remember that, in order to envigorate their failing campaigns, the republicans have exploited and ensured high energy costs.
The voters will remember in November!
Remember this. Money from foriegn oil purchases don't just fund countries that hate us, they also allow them to buy American Banks, Brokerage Companies, both major beer makers, and now Las Vegas. They just bailed out MGM. They don't have to conquor us, they own us.

Dear Taxpayers and November Voters:
It is wrong to allow drilling for the trillions of dollars of oil and gas reserves that we have.
We should keep it in the ground and pay other countries trillions in cash.
Saudi Arabia is a very poor country and they need the cash and jobs.
We do not need the jobs.
We do not need the cash.
We do not need the hundreds of billions in tax revenue that will get generate.
Lastly, adding supply to the oil problem will not solve anything.
Sincerely,
Obama, Reid, Pelosi and all the Democrats
I'm glad the Democrats understand that replacing jobs based on a dying industry is a priority, and why Barack Obama has pledged funding a job training program to rival the world's best.
Fossil fuel-based jobs are not the type of jobs we should work toward. We need jobs based on a future economy, train workers in industries that are going to grow, not shrink like the fossil fuel industry.
It is unfortunate that so many people are short-sighted and don't see the writing on the wall, throwing more money and infrastructure toward an industry that everyone should be trying to turn away from is the exact opposite of investing in the future. It's investing in the past, and that never yields great returns.
Yes, Hussein never has stated anywhere that he has a plan to get rid of fossil fuels.
His plan is to let trillions of cash go to countries that want to destory us.
Keep the trillions of oil and gas be buried.
Keep letting trillions of cash go to Iran and other countries that say, "We will wipe Israel and the USA off the map."
Go Hussein!!!!!!!!
God Save Saudia Arabia!!!!!!
That's some grade-A flailing. And running away from the facts. I'm floored you didn't completely misquote Obama again. I guess being called on it every time is finally getting to you!
A quick question though: "countries that want to destory us?" They want to take away our books? Remove our story? What? LOL!
Barack Obama wants to move us away from fossil fuels, away from funding terrorist states and those that would do us harm. To develop new technologies that we can profit from and strengthen our economy. John McCain's plan is to... drill.
Well that will do something in 10 years, what else could be done in that time? We could significantly reduce our dependence in a decade, it's too bad John McCain, like a junkie in search for a fix, thinks the best answer is to drill.
