LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

McCain’s cynicism is unbecoming a leader

Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008 | 2:04 a.m.

Barack Obama has completed a successful foreign trip during which he met with foreign leaders and spoke to 200,000 people in Berlin. He attracts large crowds at his campaign rallies.

Somehow John McCain has turned this into an attack ad by telling us that Obama has become a “celebrity.” McCain could make lemons out of lemonade.

Discussion: 6 comments so far…

  1. Our esteem in the world would go up by about a thousand percent if Obama were to be elected.

  2. I really hope the McCain camp cleans up there act. This week has made me want to stay home in november.Has any one seen this video of McCain cussing. Wow what a potty mouth. http://www.mccanes.com

  3. McCain promised a clean, no-attack campaign. He has given us just the opposite. We should trust this man to be our leader? A liar? And one who stoops to immature tactics at that? THAT is who people want to vote for?

  4. Political celebrity? What a joke.

Which presidential candidate appeared on "24?"

Which presidential candidate had a cameo in "The Weddding Crashers?"

Which presidential candidate hosted an episode of "Saturday Night Live?"

    John McCain!

Talk about mixed messages, all I hear is "He's the most famous celebrity in the world!" one minute and then "We don't know who he is!" the next.

It's not a surprise that the Republicans can't decide how to attack him. They're throwing the kitchen sink!

  5. I believe that "celebrity" part of the ad was just to get attention and to get free display of the ad by the news shows.

Like here, you are talking about the ad.

The non-celebrity parts of the ads are effective in hurting Obama. It shows that Obama is very stubborn on new offshore drilling. Obama does not believe in offshore drilling. But he is changing his mind on the subject....kicking and screaming as he does it.

  6. I like these ads. They show how desperate and afraid John McCain is.

He said he was going to run a clean campaign. I guess this is just more doubletalk!

Not only did he adopt George Bush's policies, he's adopted his politics!

    Bush/McCain 08!
