Letter: Blame war, not entitlements
Friday, Sept. 28, 2007 | 7:30 a.m.
Some conservative Republicans continue to blame the country's financial problems and debt on our entitlement programs. Is anyone still falling for that corporate propaganda?
The financial problems and debt are because of the war, the privatization greed, the no-bid cost-plus contract thefts and six years of Bush mismanagement of our government offices and programs, not America's meager and grudgingly provided entitlement programs.
For example, the Iraq war will cost $1.2 trillion and already $10 billion are known missing or unaccounted for with no contractor services delivered.
We need to elect people who believe in our government and its institutions and will manage them well, not dismantle them and give our programs away to greedy corporations.
