As the son of a miner goes after coal-fired plants…

Friday, Sept. 28, 2007 | 7:31 a.m.

As the son of a miner goes after coal-fired plants, it's hard to ignore the backdrop of Harry Reid's battle against Sierra Pacific Resources/Nevada Power - and it is nuclear. Several publications, including The Economist and The Wall Street Journal, recently have published pieces detailing something akin to a nuclear power renaissance. New plant applications are expected to continue to increase as part of what the Journal called a "revival" of nuclear power. And just this week, the Democratic presidential candidates in New Hampshire were hardly unified in their stance on nuclear power, with Democratic front-runners Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama refusing to take the option off the table. I wonder if it's an option on Reid's table?
