Letter: GOP mismanaging Iraq and our future
Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 | 7:18 a.m.
The shame of being a Republican: having to vote for party politics instead of voting for what's right and voting for what's good for the people who elected them. After they get all the money that they are groveling for, what good will it do them when they realize that they have spent the country into bankruptcy and their money is worthless.
Their latest vote on not giving the troops some downtime is just another example of their thoughtlessness of the future. They won't authorize a military draft, because maybe their kids might have to serve or having that many free-thinkers in the military might lead to mutiny because of their micromanaging of a war that never should have happened.
The troops in Iraq can't have the leave they deserve because there aren't enough of them. The Republicans will follow the Bush-Cheney administration to the grave.
Whatever happened to the 300,000 barrels of oil that are being pumped from Iraq every day that were going to pay for the war? The oil disappears, and we keep giving our tax money to fight the war instead of taking care of business at home.
