Letter: Iraq just a blame game to Republicans
Monday, Sept. 17, 2007 | 7:14 a.m.
It occurs to me that there are two reasons President Bush continues with his insane Iraq policy of more of the same.
If somehow the Democrats were able to force an end to the Iraq war before his term ends, there is high likelihood the Congress would turn to impeachment proceedings knowing they would no longer be considered as "not supporting the troops."
The other reason for Bush holding on until presumably a Democrat is the next president, who would likely end the war, is the Republicans can then blame the Democrats for "losing" the war: "If only we could have held on for a few more months, the war could have been won" would be the Republican mantra.
