The Lions HealthFirst Foundation was created to provide the elderly with free or low-cost ultrasound exams, which can pick up potentially serious medical problems such as masses, cysts, tumors and blockages.
"Our screenings give you a heads - up on what's going on inside your body. They're painless, noninvasive and only take about 60 minutes," foundation President James Bartel says.
The group hopes to provide screenings at Clark County community centers.
A fundraising banquet on Saturday will feature an appearance by Jerry Vale and entertainment by Neil Diamond tribute artist Jay White. CNN anchor Veronica De La Cruz will host the dinner.
The foundation also will honor five Las Vegas doctors with humanitarian awards at the banquet:
