Letter: Commission should provide oversight
Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007 | 7:36 a.m.
A Las Vegas Sun story on Sept. 10, "Smelly questions bubble over tax dollars, sewage deals," raises another question: What is the Clark County Commission doing to provide oversight to its other areas of responsibility?
Apparently, the commissioners didn't monitor the activities of the former, now jailed, members of the commission, and University Medical Center is costing the citizens of Clark County millions of dollars to sustain its services. I haven't heard any real plan to make UMC fiscally viable.
Recently, the commission did approve the issuance of a psychic arts, astrologer, spiritualist, seer and science practitioner business license , so maybe that person/persons can help the commission see into the future to prevent further problems.
