Letter: Clear solution for situation in Iraq
Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007 | 7:35 a.m.
If President Bush needs to find a solution to our situation in Iraq, I have some simple advice for him.
All he needs to do is have a closed-door meeting with columnist Thomas Friedman of The New York Times and Middle East correspondent Richard Engel of NBC News.
Anyone who has ever read the many columns on Iraq or listened to Engel reporting from Iraq knows these are probably the most knowledgeable two men on the situation there and the factions involved.
These men have been there, lived there and have seen firsthand the problems there, and have concrete, precise and honest ideas on how to proceed to bring an end to this mess and maybe slow down the causalities our troops suffer every day.
These men are smart and professional and do not deliver pointless rhetoric.
I just wish the president would listen.
