FLASHPOINT for Sep 10, 2007

Last week on "Face to Face," we had a debate about an issue that epitomizes the dual nature of this valley. The issue was about mobile billboards and whether an escort service operator should be allowed to truck his ads around the valley. This was not just about competing with a mobile billboard owner who thought such ads were offensive. Nor was it about whether mobile billboards are inherently annoying - although we could do a show on that, too. It was about whether it's worse to see billboards for salacious Strip shows all over the place but not OK to have them rolling around the streets. And can the county do anything about it, even if it wanted to? Regulating billboards never gets anywhere. But the mobile ones? We'll see.
