Letter: Counting the days ‘til Bush is off throne
Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 | 7:17 a.m.
Have faith: As of Sept. 8, there will be only 500 days before King George leaves office on Jan. 20, 2009. I t is obvious he will continue to ignore the will of the people and the advice of the politicians - Republican and Democrat alike - and will keep the troops in Iraq until January 2009.
He and Vice President Dick Cheney will browbeat Gen. David Petraeus and other Pentagon officers to mumble something about progress because of the " surge." So King George will protect his standing (in his mind) in history by keeping thousands of young Americans in harm's way in Iraq.
But have faith: Only 500 more days and he will be gone, and the troops will finally come home. Who knows - maybe George will go over and run for the office of Iraq president in 2009.
