Letter: President’s job entails great responsibility

Monday, Oct. 29, 2007 | 7:08 a.m.

Just a quick note to reply to Tom Smith's letter about the criticism of President Bush ("An issue where Bush can escape criticism?" Oct. 25):

Of course this president or administration shouldn't be criticized for acts of nature. It's just that they never seem to take responsibility for anything - it is always somebody else's fault.

Reporters ask tough questions (finally), newspapers print tough editorials and investigative stories (finally), and Congress starts to take its responsibilities seriously (again and, at last, finally).

We are not sheep, we are not puppets and we are not employees or the household staff. This president cannot just snap his fingers and expect us all to jump.

The job is hard , as it should be. And we all depend on the outcome and his performance.

Take the responsibility seriously, Mr. President. Remember, sometimes it is your fault.
