Letter: R-J sets the standard for slanting the news

Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007 | 7:17 a.m.

I have nothing but kudos for Bob Coffman in his Oct. 23 letter about the Las Vegas Review-Journal's biased reporting. I have complained to Editor Thomas Mitchell several times to no avail.

But let's look at the facts. The Review-Journal cannot criticize Bush or Cheney or John Ensign because they have endorsed them, not once but twice.

My complaint with the R-J is that if a Democrat is in trouble you will find it on the front page and you can be sure that person's affiliation will be prominent. But let a Republican be in trouble, and you are lucky if you can find it anywhere but after page 10A or even beyond.

During my career, which took me to several cities such as Detroit , Dayton, Ohio, Chicago and Peoria , Ill., I have never seen a more biased newspaper than the Las Vegas Review-Journal. I wish that the Las Vegas Sun was delivered separately in the morning because I trust the news I get in that fine paper.
