Letter: Looking forward to Gore’s future good works
Monday, Oct. 15, 2007 | 7:23 a.m.
The latest news of former Democratic Vice President Al Gore being named co-recipient of the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize was most gratifying to learn, and he earned the admiration and eternal gratitude of the citizens of America and the world. Mr. Gore's loss in the 2000 election has been bittersweet, but he has done a great deal of good work in his role as an activist to save the Earth.
The long term damage the Bush administration has done is tragic and incalculable. Whatever respect or admiration America enjoyed worldwide is now trashed for decades to come. Al Gore, as an articulate statesman, scholar, visionary and activist regarding global warming, has restored some of that respect.
Instead of dwelling on what might have been, let us look into the future and encourage Mr. Gore to continue his good work for America and the world. Tempting as it may be, Mr. Gore's good work for world environment should not be politicized. He would be admired and more respected throughout America and the rest of the world as an activist and statesman for global warming.
