Letter: Don’t let leaders start war in Iran
Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007 | 7:13 a.m.
I sincerely hope that the House and the Senate have enough sense to not let either Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or President Bush get us into a conflict in Iran.
I was all for us going into Afghanistan to chase al-Qaida. We had them and the Taliban on the run, but Bush did a cut-and-run into an ill-advised and mismanaged war in Iraq.
Now the saber-rattlers are making noises about a preemptive war with Iran. This could be the start of a world war between Christianity and Islam.
Let's hope cooler heads prevail and we can work out our differences with Iran, which could also lead to getting the United States out of Iraq. Then history won't have to decide which president would turn out to fulfill Nostradamus' prediction and be the mad man in the Middle East who started World War III.
