Letter: ‘Green’ tax break rips off state’s taxpayers

Thanks for the Oct. 4 article, "Big business out to soak up 'green,' " and the several others the Sun has published on this massive rip-off of Nevada taxpayers.

There is nothing wrong with capitalists making lots of money on the products and services they provide to people who willingly buy them. But they should have their hands crushed anytime they reach into the public treasury "cookie jar" looking for corporate welfare, which is all the "green" tax breaks really are.

The Legislature should have repealed its '05 mistake last session and if the casino industry wanted "war," then so be it. Barring that, the Legislative Commission should stick to its guns and insist the regulations implementing the law be as narrowly applied as possible.
