Letter: Government serves people, not vice versa
Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007 | 1:40 a.m.
What in God's name ever became of a government of the people, by the people and for the people?
I sincerely do not understand why President Bush is still in office. He has absolutely no regard for our country, only himself and his selfish dreams.
He wants to drastically hurt millions of seniors to get the money he wants for wars and retired politicians, who receive fat pensions when they leave office.
He has no concern for children's health issues. What is wrong with this government? Are they all corrupt?
The people of this country deserve and should have a working government that's for the people of our nation, not egotistical politicians who are only taking from its citizens. Their concerns are: what I can get, how I look and where will it take me.
Women and men are putting their lives in jeopardy in Afghanistan and Iraq. For what?
We the people need to put a stop to this rabid government that's destroying the values for which our men and women are fighting.
People of this country, open your eyes and get your heads out of the sand.
The hourglass is emptying for all of us if we don't take a stand for our lives.
We need to start over and clean house in Washington with leaders who work for us, "the people of these United States. "
