FLASHPOINT for Oct 05, 2007

High Point just hasn't gotten the point. The Greensboro (N.C.) News Record reported this week that the original center of the furniture mart universe isn't yet convinced the Las Vegas "upstart" has won the battle. Indeed, High Point has 180 more buildings than the downtown Las Vegas iteration and 35,000 more attendees, the newspaper says. And one High Pointer asserted: "I think Vegas will be a regional market. Everybody's going out there for curiosity or to have a good time. The amount of display out there is nowhere near what you see here. I like Vegas, but I don't see it as a killer furniture show." Oh, no? Sounds like denial. Then perhaps that High Pointer should do what Oscar Goodman has suggested High Pointers should do: Kill himself.
