Letter: Government throws money down the drain
Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 | 7:06 a.m.
Regarding the Las Vegas Sun's Nov. 13 story, "Senator has traditional fix for U.S.: Tax cuts":
"I think people understand that taxes go to pay for things - taxes go to pay for the military, for schools, for Social Security."
What a great quote from Adam Hughes, director of fiscal policy at OMB Watch, a fiscal watchdog group. The people understand the money goes down the drain and lines the pockets of the special interests.
The military is overburdened, troops underpaid and provided little reward for their sacrifice.
The schools are monuments of buildings, with grossly overpaid administrators and underpaid "baby sitters" with master's degrees.
Social Security, borrowed, lock boxed and distributed to fund pork.
It would be cheaper for us to write a check and buy a country than try to reform it.
