Letter: Liberals are still blocking oil solutions
Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 | 6:54 a.m.
In the April 27, 2006, Las Vegas Sun a letter I wrote brought to light that the Democrats (the left) were busy with blame and had no solutions to energy problems. I brought up facts related to liberals' blocking offshore drilling, drilling in Alaska, recovery of shale oil, nuclear energy plants and new oil refineries.
Two days later in the Sun, my letter was rebuked by Carl F. Kaun and called "shortsighted."
Well, these partial solutions to our energy needs have been blocked by the liberals for more than 12 years, and if we had been allowed to go forward we would not be in the bind we are now and the price of gasoline would be more reasonable.
Those in the more liberal wing are not only wrongheaded on these issues but are downright deceitful in their position as social progressives. They say President Bush offers no energy plan as they block every plan offered.
Wind, solar, nuclear and other sources of energy exist, but the development of each requires that existing oil sources be used. When will the left stop its blaming and allow solutions to be implemented?
Sadly, the answer is: not until it is too late.
