Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Rodham Clinton maintain substantial leads and if they became their parties' nominees, the former New York City mayor shows a slight lead in the general election, according to the poll. Clinton and Giuliani are widely favored by Hispanic voters in their parties; Obama gets his strongest support from young people and blacks.

The telephone poll of 800 registered Florida voters was conducted from Nov. 4-7. It was done by Schroth, Eldon & Associates, whose clients are primarily Democrats, and the Polling Company, which works mainly with Republicans on behalf of a coalition of media outlets, including The Miami Herald, the Palm Beach Post, the St. Petersburg Times and Bay News 9. The margin of error was plus or minus 5.3 percentage points for the Democratic primary poll and 5.5 percentage points for the Republican primary poll.
