Letter: Robertson endorsing Giuliani is hypocrisy
Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 | 7:59 a.m.
Republicans can't forgive President Bill Clinton for his exploits with Monica Lewinsky. It's more than six years since he left office and they're still criticizing him. So I was shocked to see the Rev. Pat Roberston, one of Bill Clinton's harshest critics on the Christian right, endorse (former New York) Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
While Bill and Hillary have worked out their problems, and presumably are enjoying their marriage, Rudy has been married three times. His first marriage was to Regina Perrugi, whom he divorced, and he received an annulment from the Catholic Church on the grounds that Regina was his second cousin. He then married Donna Hanover and they had two children, Andrew (in 1986) and Caroline (in 1989). Both of them now detest their father, who they know committed adultery with Judith Nathan and ended his marriage to their mother to marry Judith.
Judith has been busy as well, as Rudy was her third husband. I wonder how many of the Rev. Robertson's followers would want to socialize with a couple who have been married six times, let alone vote to elect him president, with her as first lady.
What a moral example that would be for the youth of America. President Rudy Giuliani and first lady Judith Nathan Giuliani, each married three times. What a pair.
