Letter: Bush has economic, foreign policy successes
Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007 | 7:01 a.m.
Ray Harbert stated in his Nov. 3 letter that the Bush administration has created a dictatorship the likes of which have never been seen in Washington. The result is that the damage done to the United States probably will never be repaired.
Let's see what this "dictatorship" has wrought: Six years of sustained job growth, low inflation, record high stock market returns, Libya 's giving up its nuclear weapons development, North Korea 's giving up its nuclear weapons development, Iran thinking about it, record individual home ownership, France 's electing a president who actually likes us after 60 years of the opposite and, oh yes, everyone kept his clothes on in the Oval Office.
Now all this country has to do is keep capitalism, self -initiative and personal accountability as top priorities, show all the illegal aliens (note: not legal immigrants) the door and keep the resident socialists at bay. So far President Bush has managed to do most of this.
He will leave office with an economy far stronger than it was when he was initially sworn in. A healthy economy is the most important thing a president can leave his successor.
