Letter: GOP feeding off our taxes and its own fat
Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007 | 6:59 a.m.
How would you like to contribute to the political party you oppose? You wouldn't? Well, I'm sorry, but if you are a Democrat and a taxpayer, you already are a contributor to the Republican Party.
Here is how it happens. Take a corporation, say Blackwater. This Republican administration awards Blackwater a porky fat, no-bid contract worth billions of dollars. It gets the money from taxpayers, of course, many of whom are Democra ts.
Blackwater is a strong supporter of Republican causes. Come election time, it contributes hundreds of thousands dollars almost exclusively to the Republican Party. This is true of many other corporations, too, including Halliburton, a charter member at the juicy no-bid trough.
The Republican Party aids and abets corporate war profiteering, which aids and abets the Republican Party. Do you wonder why Bush and the Republicans in Congress keep the war going? Follow the money.
I suppose there has always been war profiteering , But for this administration to be involved in it bespeaks a new level of depravity.
