So it's a year before the election and the cops already know they love Joe Heck. Love him so much that before they know who is running against the GOP state senator, they have endorsed him. The Southern Nevada Conference of Police and Sheriffs, which claims to represent more than 3,500 law enforcement officers, embraced Heck at this early date complete with a gushing quote from longtime police union activist David Kallas. This is the kind of early endorsement from a politically appealing group that is designed to scare off prospective opponents - and I tip my hat to the technique. For the group's sake, though, I hope some former sheriff or current cop or FBI agent doesn't decide to challenge the incumbent. Heck, that would be embarrassing.
