LOOKING IN ON: ENTERTAINMENT
Entertainer Gordie Brown, who recently celebrated his first anniversary at the Venetian, has more talent than one person has a right to have.
Letter: Cleaner air leads to cleaner bill of health
As a parent I find this ridiculous, but I am also concerned that we are failing to focus our attention on keeping our children healthy so they don't need treatment in the first place. Clean air is vital so children do not get asthma and other health problems, yet we have proposals for three new coal-fired power plants in Nevada - areas that currently have minimal air pollution and high potential for renewable energy.
Letter: Don't hold your breath waiting for a leader
The Democrats have shown themselves to be befuddled, as usual, and don't even recognize the rightness of impeaching President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Letter: Don't be so quick to judge foreclosure victims
I have to wonder if these are not the same people who now also like to say such things as "we saved and spent within our means." In other words, if times are economically good, then you are entitled to a house; but if times are economically difficult, then others should sit on the sidelines and envy you because you had good luck in the timing of your purchase.

Teary Goodbye for Space Station Astronauts
The most tears came from the two men who traded places on the space station: Clayton Anderson, who is headed home after five months in orbit, and Daniel Tani, who is starting a two-month mission.
Editorial: Bring back 'public' service
But too many government regulators cannot accept this simple premise. They frequently travel the world at the expense of those they regulate.
Music Review: Jay-Z 'American Gangster'
Jay-Z is the first to admit that his retirement from rap was entirely too premature: Like the self-proclaimed Mike Jordan of rap once famously said, "I can't leave rap alone/ the game needs me."
WEEK IN REVIEW: CLARK COUNTY
Like an army with several lines of defense, smut peddlers on the Strip have several lines of offense, or offensiveness.
Ky., Miss. Races Head 2007 Elections
Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, one of the few politicians to emerge from Hurricane Katrina looking good, was heavily favored to defeat a Democratic opponent who laced his criticism of the Republican incumbent with religious references.

Editorial: Nuclear meltdown
For two decades the state's top political leadership has been unified in opposition to the department's proposal to send tens of thousands of tons of highly radioactive waste across country to Yucca Mountain, 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas.

So Rep. Jon Porter, known as a member of the Second Amendments band, likes to dance the night away more than he has any superstitions or was born to run. So reports National Journal in a piece about rock concerts coupled with fundraisers. Democrats hooked up with Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen while Republicans, including Porter, gathered at a Van Halen concert this week to raise money at a $1,250 to $1,500 a head affair. Considering Porter will surely be accused, most notably on the SCHIP vote, of wanting the best of both worlds, this could the right band for ...
