Mother Jones magazine is the latest outlet to take a look at Nevada and ponder the Democrats' chances of winning here in a presidential race. Except for Bill Clinton, who benefited twice for Ross Perot's pull, no Democratic nominee has won here since Lyndon Johnson. So should Democrats abandon any rural strategy and just focus on Las Vegas and Reno? Mother Jones put it well: "Democrats have historically won Las Vegas and environs - liberal and libertine, racially diverse, rapidly growing, and a trade union stronghold. But outside of Clark County, if you were a Democrat, you kept that fact to yourself." And if you are a Democrat running outside of Clark County, don't stop until you get to Reno. It ain't worth the time.
