FLASHPOINT for May 25, 2007

The anger many commentators have directed at President Bush over the Iraq war has, in some quarters, now turned on Democrats, such as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Most notably was the jeremiad by MSNBC's Keith Olbermann this week that repeated his scorn of Bush but then turned on Reid and the Democrats, whom he accused of betrayal with what he called surrender on withdrawal from Iraq. He all but compared Reid to Neville Chamberlain and said Reid and other Democrats "have failed us." He accused Reid of leading the party and country "right off a cliff." Olbermann's rants against Bush have become YouTube fodder for months. But this was even more vitriolic and surely will strike a chord.
