Letter: Hypocrisy abounds for Bush supporters
Wednesday, May 23, 2007 | 7:05 a.m.
For six years the majority of Americans have been criticizing the Bush administration for the way a number of things have been handled, especially the war in Iraq and Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
These criticisms have been nonstop, and the interesting thing is that the handful of Bush supporters have ignored these criticisms as if they were baseless. Listening to them over these six years, one would think that no serious problems exist and the man they put in office is taking care of business, and his ship is sailing a smooth course.
I can almost respect these supporters who cut the president so much slack while he bungled things for six years, although, as I said, they do not see any flaws. Since last November's elections, those Bush supporters have tipped their hands.
The new Congress has been in existence less than six months, and it is both alarming and comical the way the pro-administration supporters are criticizing the new Congress for not straightening out the mess we are in. Wait a minute. What mess? Where were these critics when the rest of us were showing our dissatisfaction in the way things were going?
Yes, it is all in the eye of the beholder, but who has the speck in his eye and who has the log in his eye?
