This has been a rough year for Sen. John Ensign. First, his choice for U.S. attorney gets fired by the administration, which has embarrassed him by giving him no satisfaction. Then, despite other Nevada delegation members expressing outrage and demanding Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' head, Ensign has been all but mute. And now, his stewardship of the National Republican Senatorial Committee is off to a rocky start, with reports this week that his Democratic counterparts have raised twice as much money. "If nothing else, Ensign is making sure Liddy Dole doesn't look all that horrible for her ineptness last cycle," was the brutal comment on the liberal Daily Kos blog. It can't get much worse for Ensign, could it?
