Letter: Dance video game would be good for seniors

In the Las Vegas Sun's May 19 publication, reporter Emily Richmond did a good job in covering the fact that the students at Silvestri Middle School now get to dance to video games, creating a fun way to enjoy exercise and dance, thereby producing a stronger heart, less obesity and diabetes prevention.

OK, what about us older folks, who already have too much cellulite, are approaching the age of heart problems and the diabetes needs reduction? From a psychological standpoint, Baby Boomers such as myself were taught that we were supposed to stand against the high school walls until a guy comes up and asks you to dance - but thankfully younger women simply get out and dance with themselves.

Here is a perfect opportunity for those who really need the exercise to also enjoy the benefits of having fun on a piece of colorful plastic. Why not install them in all senior centers as well?

This is to say thanks for whoever is in charge of running middle schools for jumping on an excellent opportunity to create fun and exercise, making for a more enjoyable educational experience.
