Letter: U.S. troops show honor, unlike Cheney

Monday, May 14, 2007 | 7:05 a.m.

The New York Times reported on May 11 that during his visit to Iraq and speaking to American troops there, Vice President Dick Cheney acknowledged the discouraging effects of the latest three-month extension for many personnel deployed in Iraq.

"That puts unexpected hardship on you and your families," he said. "I want you to know the extension is vital to the mission."

Perhaps those troops have other priorities, as Cheney claimed he had about five times during the Vietnam conflict, but they will stay the course honorably.
