Letter: War money could’ve been better spent

Saturday, May 12, 2007 | 7:22 a.m.

If Mr. Bush wanted to leave a legacy as a "war president," why didn't he declare war on a disease and pump all those billions of dollars into research for a cure instead of putting thousands of our brave men and women in harm's way?

Oh, I just remembered, this president does not believe in science - only war.

Just think of the praise this country could have received from around the world if we found a cure for a deadly disease .

Why can't people in power ever think to promote humanitarianism instead of weapons and destruction?

Whom does Mr. Bush point his finger at as being "evil doers?" Perhaps he should look at the fingers pointing back at himself.
