Letter: Let’s start dealing with the big issues
Tuesday, May 8, 2007 | 7:40 a.m.
The voters have spoken. They do not want smoking in establishments that serve food - taverns or restaurants. Period.
So to all of those who cannot live with the decision, it is now time to embrace and deal with it - it is not going to change no matter how many times you write in to the paper or how much complaining you do.
Why should we, who don't smoke and don't want to, be subjected to this disgusting and very dangerous habit of yours? Simply get up and go outside and smoke. Problem solved.
It is now a law. They have done in it in much bigger states such as New York and California. I can't believe that we are still talking about this.
Additionally, for all of those who live in the northwest part of the valley, get over the whole "right turn" issue. I am a lifelong resident of this valley and I hear airplane noise throughout the entire city. I just cannot imagine a plane turning right from McCarran International Airport is causing this much upheaval.
For all the other problems we have in the world today, these two issues are like a speck of dust in the much bigger picture. Be glad that we live in such a great place. Now if you really cannot embrace the "no smoking" law, then I know a place where you can smoke and eat and drink and no one cares ... it's called downtown Baghdad.
