Letter: New flight path hurts quality of life for some
Sunday, March 25, 2007 | 7:16 a.m.
I would like to thank the idiots with the Federal Aviation Administration for changing my quality of life and depreciating the value of my home. (No, I do not live in Summerlin.) On the first night of the flight path change I was disturbed from sleep three times.
For those of you who already lived in the path of flights, you may feel this is no big deal or that the rest of us had to share in the misery. The problem is that I bought my home several years ago knowing where the planes usually fly and purposely stayed away from it, just like everyone else could have.
We did this for two reasons: property value and I'm a light sleeper. I am curious as to who wants to pay me for the difference in what my property value will now be. As far as losing sleep, I don't even know what to begin to say about that.
I am disappointed as a business owner and a productive, taxpaying citizen that our government could not come to a better solution. Hey, Mayor Oscar Goodman, any class action suit among homeowners against the FAA ... sign me up!
