Letter: Enough blood has been shed for Bush
Sunday, March 25, 2007 | 7:17 a.m.
This president, with his ultimate hubris, has asked the American people to be "patient," as thousands of troops have given their lives for a war that he started. As the needy in this country are striving to pay their taxes and the additional fees placed on them by state governments, he says we must be patient. As millions of people in this country cannot find the means to pay for physicians and medications, he says be patient.
President Bush asks us to have courage, and continue to see the war through to a successful victory. He warns Congress not to withhold funds for the war, or he will veto their amendments.
The generals in the military have repeatedly told the American people and Bush that 20,000 additional troops will not be enough to deal with millions of insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our troops are worn to a frazzle. Why? Where have the hundreds of billions of dollars gone?
Lies and distortions have been the bedrock of this president's tenure; it is unendurable. His service to this country will be marked as a bloody, expensive and useless tenure. We, the people, are this country, and we should have the last say on this war. We have the right and cause to rid ourselves of an inadequate administration, which plans for this war to last 10 more years. Wake up, Americans!
