Letter: Gen. Pace’s critics are not neutral
Thursday, March 22, 2007 | 7:09 a.m.
The chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. Peter Pace, stated his personal opinion on a controversial subject: homosexuality.
For a society that claims tolerance, the treatment that Gen. Pace received for voicing his personal opinion was anything but tolerant.
Gen. Pace was accused of making a value judgment by those who claimed they were morally neutral. However, in truth, they were condemning him because his view differed from theirs on this subject.
Think I'm wrong? Tell me, then, if Gen. Pace had stated that he approved of homosexuality, would he have received the same criticism he has endured?
If the critics were truly neutral on this subject, they would not praise or condemn Gen. Pace's personal opinion.
