FLASHPOINT for Mar 22, 2007

Irony must be in short supply in the Nevada Republican Party. With Delaware Sen. Joe Biden in the state, the GOP thought it might be smart to put out a release questioning the presidential hopeful's ability to connect with Nevadans. "As Sen. Joe Biden makes his way through Nevada to further his presidential campaign, we can only wonder whose speech he may plagiarize as he did back in 1987 leading to a humiliating withdrawal from the '88 Democrat primary," Chairman Paul Willis said. Is he joking? This from a party whose titular head - Gov. Jim Gibbons - pilfered the zealotlike words of an Alabama state auditor and then said they came to him in an anonymous e-mail. GOP, heal thyself.
