Letter: Worker program makes most sense

What is happening to our country? "We the People" have been displaced by "We the Corporations" and "We the ACLU" and numerous other groups promoting amnesty for illegal aliens.
Border drug smugglers now know that if they attempt to bring in less than 500 pounds of marijuana they will not be prosecuted. Our Border Patrolmen are being arrested and sent to jail for doing their jobs. Mexico seems to have more control of our border than we do.
Most of these people risk their lives to come here for jobs because there aren't any in Mexico. They are not looking for citizenship. They want to send money home to their families. They come from a different culture, and in their hearts they are Mexicans. Most of these people do not speak English and really don't care to learn it, which makes a big difference. They are not here to immigrate, but to find jobs.
Rather than cram amnesty down our throats, why can't we have a program somewhat like the Bracero program, where willing workers are able to be documented with something more meaningful and substantial than a green card with a picture and print and hopefully more difficult to forge.
