Letter: Gonzales’ version of truth as bad as a lie
Sunday, March 18, 2007 | 7:25 a.m.
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales now tells us that, despite his e-mails on the subject, he can't remember planning the firing of U.S. attorneys for political reasons. Here is my question: What would be worse, that he is lying to Congress, or that he discussed the politicization of our justice system and it wasn't even important enough to remember?
Given that this planning happened before President Bush decided Mr. Gonzales was the man he wanted to run our Justice Department, what does this say about Mr. Bush? Why are we not surprised?
