Letter: Green casinos a step in the right direction
Thursday, March 15, 2007 | 7:17 a.m.
Regarding the Las Vegas Sun's March 14 story about the opposition being generated to casinos seeking a tax cut for going green, because of indoor smoking in casinos:
Shouldn't we consider the health benefits in air quality of citizens outside the casinos that will benefit from helping the casinos go green? Wouldn't everyone benefit from these utility hogs going green?
I agree that smoking is harmful, but which is better: the status quo or even a moderate reduction in energy consumption? Shouldn't we look past red tape and do something that benefits the environment? If nothing is done because of a technicality, then we all lose.
Let's win one for the environment and do the best we can for the employees.
