Letter: Executions should not be pain-free
Wednesday, March 14, 2007 | 7:19 a.m.
There has been considerable coverage the past few months about executions by the needle being a cruel and unusual punishment for the condemned felon. This because an occasional aberration caused some discomfort to the condemned being executed.
When I think about the terror, the torture, rape and other horrors perpetrated by some of these criminals, especially upon children and women, I say the needle is too easy.
As I write, the story about the 9-year-old girl, Jessica Lunsford, who was abused and buried alive, makes my blood boil. As far as I am concerned, these poor excuses for human beings should be made to feel the pain and terror they heaped upon their victims!
