FLASHPOINT for Mar 12, 2007

Extremism in the defense of tearing down a presidential debate is no vice. That is the message from the successful blogging assault on that proposed Fox/Democratic Party-sponsored debate scheduled for August and now apparently scuttled by MoveOn.org. Portraying the battle as if it were for the soul of the Democratic Party, the group collected signatures (mostly from out of state) and fired up the bloggers to do their thing. This will give legitimacy to Fox News, they yelped. This will say to folks that Fox is all right, they wailed. Perhaps the millions of viewers who make Fox the top cable network in the country already give it legitimacy. And this kind of nonsense hurts Democrats and helps Fox. Kudos.
