Letter: Candidates should take a timeout

Sunday, March 11, 2007 | 7:42 a.m.

To all the political candidates:

Please be advised that the general election is 20 months in the future. We voters were subjected to the marathon electioneering during 2004, and John Kerry still lost!

In the recent election, with all of the mudslinging, the most obvious choice on the ballot was none of the above. So the political wannabes should give it a rest, and let us voters have a little respite. I do not need their political rhetoric for the next 20 months.

If the politicians cannot get their message across in the 30 days before the primaries and then once again after Labor Day to the day before the general election, then they are not focused. My advice to them is to work very hard in their elective body and show us, the voters, that by their deeds they are worthy of our support - that our taxes may be decreased, that our rights and freedoms are strengthened - rather than by their promises.

Politicians should show us voters that they are God-fearing people of moral substance, that they place Him above all else, and that the United States and their families come before their political viewpoints. Then come to us for your support.

Any financial support will not be available until the primaries, and should the wannabes persist, then the mute button on the DVD player and the VCR will be used extensively.
