Letter: It is a law of physics: Atheists are correct

In the March 7 Las Vegas Sun, an atheist-bashing letter from Darren Neal states: "It takes someone of great faith to be an atheist - to deny the existence of God." However, Webster's New World Dictionary defines atheism as the "belief" that there is no God. In other words, unlike the intolerant masses who claim to "know" that there is a God, atheists simply conclude otherwise, no faith necessary.

Atheists are philosophers who believe the universe is eternal, i.e., having no beginning or ending in time. If the universe is eternal, then it has existed forever and does not require and cannot be the work of a creator.

The scientific law of conservation states: All energy and matter in the universe, although it may be changed in form, may never be created nor destroyed. Even the big bang theory holds that all of the energy and matter in the universe existed before the explosion, just in a more compact form. Therefore, it is a law of physics that atheists are correct in their beliefs and theocrats and religionists are wrong.
