Letter: After Bush, boring Gore will be welcome

In response to letter writer Frank Bean's concern that Al Gore would bore him to death ("Gore-Obama would be a terrible bore," March 6), I will be happy to take "boring and competent" Gore any day of the week.

He helped preside over one of the most prosperous periods in American economic history, in an administration that channeled much of that prosperity into paying down the debt and helping those who weren't raised by the rising tide, and carrying out a foreign policy that led to respect from our friends and fear from our enemies.

After six years of "excitement" courtesy of the "G.W. Bush Amateur Hour," I'd be happy to have boring ol' Al Gore.
