Letter: Take up warming with liberal elite
Monday, March 5, 2007 | 7:17 a.m.
I am perplexed with former Vice President Al Gore's statement that the subject of global warming is a moral issue and not a political issue.
Since when has the liberal left chosen morality as part of its agenda? You can bet those liberal Democrats running in 2008 will make sure the global warming issue will be in the political arena.
The liberal left is trying to portray Republicans as those who are creating a have and have-not society. But just look at the liberal left, which has complete control over Hollywood, and draw your own conclusions.
The moderates of the Democratic Party are being steamrolled over and appear headed for extinction, save for a few like Sen. Joe Lieberman. Hang in there, Senator, as I have a gut feeling the moderates will make a comeback.
It sounds like Mr. Gore is attempting to put all or most of global warming on the inhabitants of this planet. I think everyone, with any sense, realizes that global warming is now taking place. However, can anybody, with any certainty, say for sure what percentage, if any, of global warming is attributable to mankind and what percentage is due to natural attrition, which has been occurring many times over since creation.
If Mr. Gore feels so strongly about the cause of global warming, then perhaps he should take his position to the so-called elite who have a multiple of homes, boats and planes. It appears the elite, who espouse environmental issues and then flaunt their wealth, are the epitome of hypocrisy.
