Ensign soon to suggest replacements for Bogden
WASHINGTON - More than six months after Daniel Bogden was fired as the U.S. attorney in Nevada, the Bush administration could be considering his replacement as soon as this week.
Deadline for club's sale looms
Time may finally be running out on a strip club that is open around the clock.
Recruiting tool for schools or hot potato
Presidents of Nevada's public higher education campuses have an idea how to improve recruiting - but regents don't want to touch it for legal and political reasons.
Editorial: Constitutionally challenged
As reported Monday by Mark Hansel in the Las Vegas Sun, council members have seen several of their attempts to restrict civil liberties shot down either in court or, thankfully, in challenges before the ordinances could be passed.
In the works: More places to park your car, hop a ride
More than a decade ago, many valley residents who worked at the Nevada Test Site simplified their daily commute by parking their cars in a North Rancho Drive lot to catch express buses that took them to their jobs 65 miles to the northwest.
Letter: Making sense of 'Sopranos' ending
Maureen Dowd makes a valid comparison between the fictional mob boss and Tony "The Poodle" Blair, and at least one "Sopranos" episode also showed the similarities between the mob and politicians. Perhaps Shakespeare would have created more mayhem for both Tonys. The Greek dramatists would have had them both whacked and fed to their children, but real life and modern fiction do not always work out that way.

The sight can be an enticing lure or a cruel tease, depending on a person's perspective.
Editorial: Reforming gun control
After the shootings, while researching the national database that gun sellers check before completing a sale, Congress found that 21 million records involving people's criminal past and mental illnesses are not accessible. It also found that millions of accessible records lack updated information.
Letter: Debate over global warming should be over
Scientists have proven that the 12 hottest years in the recorded history of our planet have occurred since 1990. The most compelling evidence of global warming comes from the melting of global ice. Ten thousand cubic miles of ice exist in Alaska alone; striking visual evidence of significant melting, thinning and rapid retreat can be seen in Glacier Bay and on the Muir Glacier; rapid melting is more evident at these sites than elsewhere in the world .
Editorial: Two wrongs make a wrong
Keith Bowles, who is serving 15 years to life for murder, filed his appeal Feb. 26 - one day earlier than the Feb. 27 deadline the federal judge had given him. But the judge was mistaken. Feb. 27 exceeded the 14 days to file an appeal allowed under federal law. The correct deadline was Feb. 24.
Letter: There's no comparing lies of Libby, Clinton
Bill Clinton lied about having an extramarital affair. Scooter Libby lied to cover up the Bush administration's deliberate leak of classified information.
Letter: Union finally wins a round in Las Vegas
Apparently what happened is that the dealers found a window in the mass media monopoly, a communication channel that would tell their side. Big corporations have owned our sources of information for years - newspapers, radio, television and news networks.
