Letter: Cheney’s former aide is not above the law

Monday, June 11, 2007 | 7:03 a.m.

There is no need to debate the pardon of Scooter Libby! President Bush will pardon him.

I would support the pardon on the condition that every inmate in prison who has been convicted of a crime equal to or less than the crime that Libby was convicted of also be pardoned.

Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, committed a crime that affected someone's career and, worse, lied and covered up crimes of other top administration officials. Shame on the president if he does give Libby a pardon, which not only prevents him from going to prison, but also, according to the law, means no crime was ever committed.
